Transmission
Torque converter (9)
a. Attach converter assembly lifter.
housing (1)
b. Attach portable floor to crane to con -
verter lifter and carefully lower
converter onto transmission.
Splines Inside converter must mesh
with splines on turbine shaft and
ground sleeve. Also, flat areas on
converter hub must aline with flat
areas in pump drive gear. When
converter is correctlyseated, dis-
tance from base of converter drive
studs to top of transmission housing-
mounting flange will be approximat-
ely9116-inch (14.29-mm).
c. If measurement is not reached, lift,
turn, and reseat converter until
correct engagement is made.
d. Take off lifting equipment.
e. Put on restraining strap.
