Lumber Flooring to Skids. Nail lumber flooring to skids as illustrated in figure D-2-4. Lay lumber
at right angles to the skids. Separate the edges of adjacent boards one-eighth to one-fourth of an inch to allow
for swelling and drainage. Place end of boards flush with the outer edges of the skids.
