Cylinder block
b.
Using cylinder hone, hone bore (2)
bores (2)
as necessary to get specified piston
running clearance.
When honing, the hone should be
moved up and down to give a cross-
hatch pattern on wall surface. The
faster the hone rotates, the faster
it must be moved to give the cross-
hatch pattern.
c.
After honing, use an emery cloth to
remove the sharp, burred edge that has
developed at the bottom of the bore (2).
CAUTION
Do not use gasoline, kerosene or cleaning solvent to clean bores. Solvents will not remove the
abrasives which can cause rapid engine wear and ring failure.
d.
Repeat step 14b thru 14e to clean bores.
e.
Repeat step 11 to check tolerances.
