Put armature (1) on test fixture.

Hold hacksaw blade against
armature (1).

Slowly rotate armature (1).
If blade vibrates, armature
is shorted and must be replaced.

Eight brush

Check for cracks and breaks.

Using machinist's rule, check brush
and springs (5)
length.
Brushes worn to length of
0.3750-inch (9.53 mm) or less
should be replaced. Always
replace
springs and brushes as a set. If
one
brush assembly fails Inspection,
replace all eight assemblies.
