Adjust carbon pile to get maximum
current output.

If current output is within 10 percent
of 61 amps, the rated output, the alter-
nator components are good.

If current output is not within 10 per-
cent of 61 amps, keep battery loaded
with carbon pile and ground alternator
field.
Ground the field by Inserting screw-
driver In test hole.
NOTE
The tab is located within three-fourths of an inch of the rear face of the frame. Do not force
screwdriver deeper than one inch into the hole.

Operate alternator at moderate rate of
speed and adjust carbon pile to get
maximum output.
k.
If the output is within 10 percent of
61 amps, replace voltage regulator.
NOTE
FOLLOW-ON MAINTENANCE: Install alternator (TM 9-2320-269-20-1).
