NOTE
There are three winches; front winch, body winch, and turret winch. The trouble-shooting procedure is
similar for all three.
24. OPERATE IMPROPERLY - SLOW, JERKY, OR NOT AT ALL
Step 1.
Check low hydraulic pressure.
See HYDRAULIC SYSTEM - LOW OR NO PRESSURE (page 2-44).
Step 2.
Check winch controls.
See WINCH CONTROLS DO NOT OPERATE (page 2-40).
Step 3.
Check operation of winch motor (8).
a.
Engage power takeoff, start engine, and turn on winch motor (8)
(TM 9-2320-269-10).
b.
Check operation of winch motor (8) (TM 9-2320-269-10).
c.
Turn winch motor (8) off, shut off engine, and disengage power
takeoff (TM 9-2320-269-10).
d.
If motor shaft (9) did not turn or turned unevenly, replace winch
motor (8) (page 2-1439, 2-1444, or 2-1451).
