Inspect clutch packs - Continued
b.
Inspect clutch packs (1), and repair or replace as needed using ap-
plicable maintenance procedure.
c.
Assemble and install transmission (2) (page 2-650).
11. OIL LEAKING
Check transmission (2) for leakage.
a.
If rear cover (3) is leaking or damaged, remove, replace seals,
gaskets, or cover (3) as needed, and install (page 2-771).
b.
If planetary adapter (4) is leaking or damaged, remove, replace
seals, gaskets, or adapter (4) as needed, and install (page 2-
779).
c.
If housing (5) is leaking or damaged, remove, replace seals, gas-
kets, or housing as needed, and install (page 2-783).
d.
If front seal (6) is leaking, remove oil pump (7), replace seal (6),
and install (page 2-728).
12. OVERHEATS
Check for leaking oil (TM 9-2320-269-20-1).
13. CREEPS IN FIRST OR REVERSE GEAR
Adjust engine idle speed (TM 9-2320-269-20-1).
14. SHIFTS ROUGHLY
NOTE
The transmission will shift at lower road speeds without modulator pressure.
Step 1.
Test modulator valve (8) operation.
a.
Using 1/2-inch socket and ratchet handle with 3/8-inch drive, take
off modulator valve (8) and retainer (9), and tie out of the way.
b.
Cover opening in modulator valve (8) and housing (4) with dust
caps.
