TROUBLESHOOTING
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
ENGINE
1. CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START
Step 1. Check for proper fuel pressure to fuel injectors (1).
a.
Open hood panels (TM 9-2320-269-20-1).
b.
Remove air cleaner (TM 9-2320-269-20-1).
c.
Using 112-inch socket, 3-inch extension, and ratchet handle with 112-inch drive,
unscrew and take out four screws (2) and clamps (3).
d.
Unscrew nut (4) part way. Unscrew, and take off nut (5) using 11/16-inch open-
end wrench. Turn pipe (6) aside, and tighten nut (4) using 11/16-inch open-end
wrench.
e.
Install in-line pressure gage between nut (5) and fuel injector (1). Have assistant
crank engine, and note gage reading and pipe (6) checked.
f.
Remove in-line pressure gage, unscrew nut (4) part way using 11/16-inch open-
end wrench, and turn pipe (6) into place.
g.
Screw on, and tighten nuts (4) and (5) using 11/16-inch wrench.
h.
Repeat steps d through g for remaining seven pipes (6).
i.
If all gage readings were 2225-2375 psi (15383 16375 kPa), put clamps (3) in
place, screw in and tighten screws (2) using 1/2-inch socket, 3-inch extension, and
ratchet handle with 112inch drive, and go to step 5.
Step 2. Inspect injector pipes (6) for blockage.
a.
Remove any pipes (6) that did not have gage reading of 2225-2375 psi (15383 16375 kPa)
b.
Inspect, and replace as needed (pages 2-270 and 2-259).
c.
Install pipes (6) removed (pages 2-270 and 2-259).
