3 Remove five hexagon head capscrews (4)
and Iockwashers (5).
4 Remove thermostat cover (3), two plain
seals (6), two thermostats (7), and gasket
(8).
1 Check for broken, damaged, or missing parts.
2 Check thermostat for corrosion and freedom of spring movement.
3 Repair is by replacement of authorized parts (TM 9-2815-202-24P) which do not meet
inspection criteria.
1 Install two new plain seals (1) in thermo-
stat cover (2) using thermostat seal
installer and driver handle. Position seals
so lip of seal faces toward top of thermo-
stat cover.
2 Place new gasket (3) on engine water
outlet (4).
3 Install two thermostats (5) in engine water
outlet (4).
4 Install thermostat cover (2) using five new
Iockwashers (6) and hexagon head
capscrews (7). Torque capscrews to 30 to
35 ft-lb (41 to 47 N-m).
