4-8. FUEL TANK BRACKET REPLACEMENT

INITIAL SETUP
Equipment Conditions
Materials/Parts
Fuel tank removed (para 4-6 or 4-7).
Cement, General Purpose (Item 12, Appendix C)
No. 1 air reservoir removed (para 11-19)
Chips, Soap (Item 13, Appendix C)
(for left fuel tank brackets).
Rags (Item 28, Appendix C)
No. 2 air reservoir removed (para 11-20)
Solvent, Dry Cleaning (Item 31, Appendix C)
(for right fuel tank brackets).
Locknuts (7) (Item 49.1, Appendix G)
Tools and Special Tools
Personnel Required
Tool Kit, Genl Mech (Item 54, Appendix F)
Two
Brush, Wire (Item 2, Appendix F)
Wrench, Torque, 0-175 Lb-Ft (Item 73,
a. Removal
WARNING
Allow muffler to cool before working
on right fuel tank and brackets.
Failure to do so may result In serious
personal Injury.
NOTE
Procedure is the same for left and
right fuel tanks.  Left fuel tank has
three brackets; right fuel tank has
two.
(1) Remove six locknuts (1), screws (2),
bracket (3), and strap (4) from frame (5)
with aid of assistant. Discard locknuts.
(2) Remove locknut (6) from T-screw (7).
Discard locknut.
(3) Separate bracket (3) from strap (4).
(4) Remove bracket liner (8) from bracket (3).
(5) Remove strap liner (9) from strap (4).
(6) Repeat  steps  (1)

for
each
remaining bracket.
