MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. ENGINE WILL NOT START (Cont)
Step 7.
Perform solenoid and 70 AMP circuit breaker on-vehicle tests (para 2-25a).
a. If tests do not indicate parts are defective, go to step 8 below.
b. If tests indicate parts are defective, repair or replace (para 2-25b).
Step 8.
Perform starter on-vehicle tests (para 2-25b).
a. If tests indicate parts are defective, replace (para 2-25b).
b. If tests do not indicate parts are defective, notify direct support maintenance.
2. STARTER CRANKS CONTINUOUSLY
Step 1.
Connect voltmeter leads to starter solenoid control terminal (tan/green electrical lead) and to
ground. Turn key switch to on position.
a. If voltmeter indicates 12-14 Vdc, go to step 2 below.
b. If voltmeter indicates zero volts, notify direct support maintenance.
Step 2.
Disconnect tan/brown electrical lead from key switch ST terminal. Turn key switch to on position.
Check if starter cranks.
a. If starter cranks, check for short in starting system wiring; repair or replace as necessary (para 2-
25a).
b. If starter does not crank, replace ignition switch (para 2-26a(1)).
