Diesel fuel is highly combustible. When performing the following steps, do not smoke or allow
open flames or sparks in the area. Death or severe injury may result if personnel fail to
observe this precaution. If you are burned, obtain medical attention immediately.

Remove and
Use filter wrench; turn
guard
(1 and 2)

counterclockwise to remove
CAUTION
Do not use tools to tighten filter elements. Hand tighten only.
b. New filter
a. Fill
Fill approximately 2/3 full
elements
with clean diesel fuel.
(1 and 2)
Lightly coat each element
gasket with diesel fuel
b. Install
Turn clockwise until gasket
contacts base; then tighten
an additional 1/2 to 3/4
turn to obtain proper seal
