WARNING
Tandem axle wheels must be chocked (TM 9-2320-270-10) before attempting to
replace tandem axle brake chambers. Tandem axle brakes are parking brakes.
Spring brake spring must be caged (TM 9-2320-270-10) on unit which you are repairing
or replacing. Spring brake spring holds enormous force and can cause serious injury.
Make sure all pressure is drained from air system before disconnecting air lines. Parts
under pressure can, when removed, fly off with great force causing injury to personnel.
NOTE
Steps in this task are the same for all four tandem axle airbrake and spring brake
chambers. Right rear chamber is shown.
