NOTE
Steps 27 thru 30 are performed to check forward clutch running clearance.
27.
Forward clutch
Five external tanged
Put an external tanged clutch plate in
housing and turbine
clutch plates (2)
position, followed with an internal
shaft (1)
and five internal
splined clutch plate, until all 10 plates
splined clutch
are in place.

Fourth clutch
Put in position.

Snapring (5)
Using 1/4-inch flat-tip screwdriver, put
in.

Fourth clutch
Press on hub (4) firmly, and using
driving hub (4)
forward clutch gage, check clearance
and internal
between hub first internal splined plate.

The clearance should be 0.072 -
plate (3)
0.130-inch (1.83 - 3.30 mm).
If the clearance is correct, smaller
end of gage will fit between hub and
top clutch plate and the larger end
of the gage will not. If the larger
end fits, the clearance is too great.
To reduce clearance, replace thi n-
nest plates with new thicker plates.
If necessary, replace hub with thick-
er hub. If required, replace piston
with new thicker piston. If the
smaller end of gage will not fit,
clearance is too little. To increase
clearance, replace piston with a
thinner piston.

Using 1/4-inch flat-tip screwdriver,
take out.

Fourth clutch
Take out.
