Power takeoff
a.
Look for chipped, cracked, or burred
gear (1)
inner splines or outer drive teeth.
b.
Remove burrs with crocus cloth o r fine
hand file.
17.
Forward clutch
a.
Look for burrs on turbine shaft splines,
housing and tur-
outer gear splines, and on inner clutch
bine shaft (2)
plate grooves.
b.
Remove burrs with crocus cloth or
fine hand file.
c.
Check that balls in clutch housing move
freely in their bores.
18.
Forward clutch
a.
Look for burrs, nicks, or scratches on
piston (3)
inner and outer diameters.
b.
Remove light scratches or burrs with
crocus cloth or fine hand file.
19.
Roller bearing
Inspect (TM 9-214).

20.
Forward clutch
a.
Look for burrs on inner and outer
hub (5)
splines.
b.
Remove burrs with crocus cloth
or fine hand file.
21.
Internal splined
Look for worn, pitted areas on friction
clutch plates (6)
material.
22.
External tanged
a.
Look for burrs, heat discoloration, and
clutch plates (7)
wear.
b.
Remove burrs with crocus cloth or
fine hand file.
23.
Fourth clutch
a.
Look for burrs on inner and outer
driving hub (8)
splines.
b.
Remove burrs with crocus cloth or
fine hand file.
