Oil pump (1)
Driven gear (2) and

Position pump with flat side up.

Place in position.
NOTE
If the plug was not removed from front support, skip step 24.

Front support (4)
New lockup valve
a.
Place in position.

Using arbor press, press in against
shoulder in bore.

Oil pump (1)
Put in position.

Front support (4)
12 screws (6)
a.
Place two screws (6) in position 1800
and oil pump (1)
and two screws (7)
apart.
b.
Tighten one or two threads by hand.
c.
Place centering band tool around outside
of oil pump (1) and front support (4) to
align the two parts.
d.
Place 10 screws (12) in position.
e.
Using 112-inch socket and ratchet
handle with 1/2-inch drive, tighten
until snug.
f.
Place two screws (7) in position.
g.
Using 9/16-inch socket and ratchet
handle with 1/2-inch drive, tighten
until snug.
When assembled, the oil pump
and front support must be aligned
exactly so the line where they are
joined is perfectly smooth.
h.
Using 1/2-inch socket and torque
wrench with 1/2-inch drive, tighten 12
screws (6) to 17 - 20 ft-lb. (23 - 27
N m) of torque.
i.
Using 9/16-inch socket and torque
wrench with 1/2-inch drive, tighten
two screws (7) to 36 - 43 ft-lb.
(49 - 58 N m) of torque.
