b. Insert the second clutch gage between
plate (7) and the housing (1).
The small end of the gage should fit
between the backing plate and the
housing, but the larger end of the
gage should not fit.
c. The clearance should be 0.045 -
0.109-inch (1.14 - 2.55 mm).
d. If the clearance is not correct, measure
the total thickness of the clutch pack
and select new internal splined clutch
plates, of different thickness, to give
the right clearance.
e. If necessary, repeat steps 35 and 36
to remove plate (7) and steps 86 and
89 thru 92 to replace with thicker or
thinner backing plate.
LOW RANGE CLUTCH CLEARANCE CHECK
CAUTION
Do not mix low clutch plates with any other clutch plates or transmission damage will occur.
