SNAPRING CLEARANCE CHECK
CAUTION
Make sure all transmission subassemblies have been thoroughly cleaned, in their respective
maintenance procedures. Even small amounts of dust or dirt on parts will cause transmission
damage.
NOTE
Soak all internal splined clutch plates in transmission oil for at least 2 minutes before assembling.
The second clutch backing plate is available in two thicknesses: 0.476 0.486 inch(12.09 12.34 mm)
and 0.450 0.460-inch (11.43 11.68 mm). Choose one of these plates for a trial measurement, as
described in the following steps. If measurement is not within tolerance, the other size backing
plate may have to be used.
