Idler gear (12)
a.
Push gears (12) and (13) away from
and gear (13)
outlet side of body (8).
b.
While holding gears (12) and (13), use
ribbon thickness gage to measure
clearance between the outside diameter
of gear and body.
Clearance must be 0.0014 to 0.0054
inch (0.036 to 0.137 mm). If
measurement is not within limits,
replace gears.
c.
Using dial indicator, check backlash
between gears (12) and (13).
Backlash must be 0.0005 to 0.0065
inch (0.013 to 0.165 mm). If
measurement is not within limits,
replace gears.

Using arbor press, press off.

Using ball-peen hammer and 1/8-inch
drive-pin punch, drive out.
