TROUBLESHOOTING - CONTINUED
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
7. MULTIPLE COMPONENT WIRING HARNESS WORKING IMPROPERLY - CONTINUED
Step 1.
Test component wiring harness (1) for power.
a.
Using applicable wiring diagrams (TM 9-2320-269-20-2), locate
power source (2) to harness (1) being tested.
b.
Disconnect power source (2) using applicable maintenance
procedure (TM 9-2320-269-20-1).
c.
Test harness (1) for power (see STANDARD WIRING HARNESS
WORKING IMPROPERLY, steps 1 and 2, page 2-11).
NOTE
When testing harnesses with multiple switches and components, be sure all switches are in the operating
position, and test all connected wires at the same time to avoid Incorrect meter readings.
Step 2.
Test component (3) wiring harness (1) for broken and shorted wires.
a.
Using applicable wiring diagrams (TM 9-2320-269-20-2), locate
all common terminals on switches (4) and connected wires in
harness (1) being tested.
b.
Using wire (5) markings, switch (4) markings, and applicable
diagrams (TM 9-2320-269-20), locate all common terminals on
switches (4) and connected wires in harness (1) being tested.
c.
Turn on all switches (4) to the component (3) operating position
(TM 9-2320-26910).
d.
Test component harness (1) for broken and shorted wires (see
STANDARD WIRING HARNESS WORKING IMPROPERLY, steps 3
thru 6, page 2-11).
e.
Turn component switches (4) to the OFF position
(TM 9-2320-269-10), and connect power source (2) using appli-
cable maintenance procedure (TM 9-2320-269-20-1).
