Hutments
The term "hutment" generally refers to a structure which has been specially erected for the storage of equipment under
dehumidified conditions. Hutments must be designed to have as little free air space as practicable to minimize the
introduction of water-vapor by breathing, diffusion, and infiltration. Sealing the structure is critical if the hutment is to be
an efficient vapor barrier. Essentially, there are two types of hutments: Indoor plastic film dehumidified structures (fig 5-
2) and indoor metal hutments (fig 5-3).
