3-9. WHEELS AND TIRES (Contd)
(a)
Remove two nuts (10), screws (8), lockwashers (9), and stone
shield (19) from drive flange (13) and wheel assembly (12).
NOTE
Wheel stud nuts on left side have left-hand threads and must be
turned to the clockwise to loosen. Wheel stud nuts on right side
have right-hand threads and must be turned to the
counterclockwise to loosen. Studs and nuts are stamped (L) left
and (R) right.
Match hollow stud-to-wheel position prior to removing wheel.
(b) Disconnect tube (11) from adapter (18).
(c)  Remove adapter (18) and elbow (17) from hollow wheel stud (15).
(d) Using wheel stud nut wrench, loosen, but do not remove, six wheel
stud nuts (16).
(e)  Position hydraulic jack and raise wheel assembly off ground. Refer
to task c.
CAUTION
Do not slide wheel on threaded studs. Sliding wheel may damage threads.
(f)
Remove six wheel stud nuts (16) with wheel stud nut wrench.
(g)
Grip wheel assembly (12), pull toward you, and remove from wheel
studs (14) and (15).
