Nominal dimenision tolerance Is
3,4725-inches (88.20-mm).

Look for etched markings on pinion
gear (5) which show variations from
zero cone setting.

If marking from step h above is a minus
figure, subtract it from 3.4725-inches
(88.20-mm).
j.
If marking from step h above is a plus
figure, add it to 3.4725-inches
(88.20-mm).
NOTE
Comparison of corrected nominal dimension with the actual or measured dimension indicates the amount of change
necessary for correct pinion gear position. It may be necessary to add or remove shims between pinion cage and
carrier.
k.
If nominal dimension is not correct,
go back to disassembly, steps 21 and
22 to change shims.
I.
If shims were changed go back to steps
56 and 57 for installation of cage on
carrier.
m.
Remove pinion setting gage set.
