FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY - CONTINUED

WARNING
It is very important that the vehicle is firmly supported and balanced before you begin to maintain the front
axle. If the truck is not properly supported with trestles, it could fall and crush you.
REMOVAL
1.
Two U-bolt seats
Four U-bolts (3),
a.
Position dolly-type jack under
axle
(1) and front
eight washers (4),
(2), and raise axle slightly.

and nuts (5)  b.
Position two trestles under frame,
and raise to support vehicle.
c.
Remove jacks from axle (2).
d.
Using 1 1/8-inch deep well socket,
and ratchet handle with 3/4-inch
drive, unscrew and take off.
2.
Two front spring
Two U-bolt seats (1) Take off.

Front axle (2)
Using dolly-type jack, lower axle (2) and
take out from under vehicle.
4.
Front axle (2)
Castor wedge (7)
Take off and note angle.
CLEANING
NOTE

WARNING
Solvent burns easily. Solvent fumes can explode. Do not smoke or allow open flame nearby when using
solvent. Failure to observe these precautions could cause serious injury or death.
5.
Front axle (2)
a.
Clean with drycleaning solvent.
b.
Wipe dry with clean, dry rags.
