a. Using 3/8-inch flat-tip screwdriver,
snapring (3)
put in.
b. Using a snapring gage, check clearance
between snapring and backing plate.
This clearance should be 0.045 -
0.109 inch (1.14 - 2.77 mm). If
clearance Is correct, small end of
gage will fit, but large end will not.
c. If clearance is not correct, measure
total clutch pack thickness.
d. Replace clutch plates with thicker or
thinner plates to get correct clearance.
e. If necessary, replace backing plate (2)
with a thicker or thinner plate.

NOTE
If removed, make sure bearing race has been installed on top hub of fourth clutch housing.
