Four screws (2) and
Using 5/16-inch flat-tip screwdriver
lockwashers (3)
bit and hinged handle with 3/8-inch
drive, tighten.
137. Fuel injection
Camshaft (5),
a.
Check for 0.00- 0.0024-inch (0.02 -
pump (4)
shims (6),
0.06-mm) end play using camshaft
and bearing (7)
holding tool and dial indicator.
b.
If end play is correct, go to step 138.
c.
If end play is incorrect, remove cam-
shaft (5) (steps 41 thru 48).
d.
Using arbor press, put on or take off
shims (6) as needed from behind front
bearing (7).
e.
Install camshaft (5) (steps 128
thru 135).
f.
Recheck end play (step 9).
138.
Camshaft (5),
a.
Check for 0.8 - 0.877-inch
shims (8),
(20.7 - 22.2-mm) protrusion using
and bearing (9)
camshaft protrusion gage and depth
b.
If protrusion is correct, go to step 135.
c.
If protrusion is incorrect, remove cam-
shaft (5) (steps 41 thru 48).
d.
Put on or take shims (8) as needed from
behind rear bearing (9) using arbor
press.
e.
Using arbor press, put on or take off
the same thickness of shims (6) from
behind front bearing (7).
f.
Install camshaft (5) (steps 128
thru 135).
g.
Recheck end play (step 9).
h.
Recheck protrusion.
139. Bearing retainer (1)
New packing (10)
a.
Apply clean No. 2 diesel fuel.
b.
Put on.
