Screw in, and tighten, using 9/16-inch

socket and handle with 1/2-inch drive.

Camshaft (5) with
a. Install remover/installer tool on the
attached parts
camshaft threads.
b. Lubricate lobes, journals, and bearings
with clean engine oil.
c. Put in position in block (4).

Camshaft (5)
Two screws (6)
a. Screw in until snug using 9/16-inch
socket and ratchet handle with 1/2-
inch drive.
b. Using 9/16-inch socket and torque
wrench with 1/2-inch drive, tighten to
40 - 50 ft-lb (54 - 61 N m) of torque.

Spacer (7) and
a. Screw in until snug using 1 7116-inch
nut (8)
impact socket and ratchet handle with
3/4-inch drive.
b. Using 1 7/16-inch socket and torque
wrench with 3/4-inch drive, tighten to
200 - 225 ft-lb (271 - 305 N m) of
torque.

Crankshaft (9)
Nut (10)
a. Using 2-inch open-end wrench, screw
on and tighten.
b. Using 2-inch open-end wrench, rotate
crankshaft (9) to see that timing gears
do not bind.
If gears bind, go back to removal,
take out camshaft, and check for
correct assembly of parts.
c. Using 2-inch open-end wrench,
unscrew and take off.

Camshaft (5)
Using dial indicator, check end play.
End play must be 0.0035 to 0.0115
inch (0.089 to 0.292 mm).
