WARNING
Solvent burns easily. Solvent fumes can explode. Do not smoke or allow open flame nearby when using
solvent. Failure to observe these precautions could cause serious injury or death.

Cylinder head (1)
a.
Clean in drycleaning solvent.
b.
Wipe dry with clean, dry rags.
c.
Check all water passages to make sure
they are clean.
d.
If water passages are clogged, use
stiff bristle brush to clean th em and
then repeat step a above.
e.
Clean valve guide bores with valve
guide brush.
INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT
NOTE
For more information on how to inspect parts, go to General Maintenance Instructions (page 2-46).
Replace damaged or defective parts as needed.

Cylinder head (1)
a.
Look for water leaks, cracks in com-
bustion chambers, exhaust ports, or
around valve seats.
b.
Check machined surfaces and gasket
surfaces for scratches and burrs which
would affect sealing and cause leakage.
