REPAIR - CONTINUED
Bonding: To bond parts that use sealing compound, clean and degrease mating surfaces with trichloroethane. Apply a
thin coat of primer, if necessary, and let dry. Put on only enough sealing compound to fill the space between the surfaces
to be mated, and install. Wipe away any extra compound with clean, dry rags and allow time for bond to cure.
Air-dry cure time, at room temperature 72F (22C), is printed on sealant container label. Bond cure time increases at
lower temperatures. Bond cure time decreases at higher temperature.
Lockwire: Always use new lockwire. Three screws are the maximum number that may be wired in series when screws
are placed 4 to 6 inches apart (102 to 152 millimeters). When lockwiring closely spaced multiple groups of screws, the
maximum number that may be lockwired together is limited to the number that can be wired with a 24-inch (620 millimeter)
length of wire.
NOTE
Drilled head screws do not usually need lockwire if installed with self-locking nuts or lockwashers.
