6. STANDARD WIRING HARNESSWORKING IMPROPERLY - CONTINUED
Step 1.
Test component harness (1) for power.
a.
Open left side hood panel (TM 9-2320-269-20-1).
b.
Disconnect bulkhead connector (2).
c.
Have assistant turn key switch and light switch to the ON position
and master light switch to the SERVICE/DRIVE position
(TM 9-2320-269-10).
d.
Using voltmeter, connect negative lead to vehicle ground and
positive lead to wire #52 and #53 at dash panel wiring bulkhead
connector (3) one at a time, and note meter reading. Disconnect
voltmeter, and have assistant turn master light switch, light
switch, and key switch to the OFF position (TM 9-2320-269-10).
e.
If meter reading was 12 volts, go to step 3.
f.
If meter reading was less than 12 volts, go to step 2.
Step 2.
Trace power source to harness (4).
a.
Using electrical systems functional diagrams
(TM 9-2320-269-20-2), locate harness or power source (5) to
harness (4) tested.
b.
Using applicable troubleshooting and maintenance procedures
as needed, repeat step 1.
NOTE
When doing tests for continuity, do not let open wire ends touch vehicle ground or touch together to avoid
incorrect meter readings.
Step 3.
Test harness (1) for broken wires.
a.
Disconnect fender connectors (6) and (7), turn/marker light
connectors (8) and (9), horn (10), and washer pump (11).
b.
With assistant, connect ohmmeter leads to wire #52 at bulkhead
connector (2) and fender connector (6), and note meter reading.
If meters read more than zero ohms, wire #52 is broken. Dis-
connect ohmmeter from bulkhead connector (2).
c.
Connect ohmmeter to wire #52A at fender connection (7), and note
meter reading. If meter reads more than zero ohms, wire #52A is
broken. Disconnect meter from fender connectors (6) and (7).
d.
Repeat for remaining wires in harness (1) using wiring diagram.
